The standard route runs west on I-595, then north on I-75, exiting at Royal Palm Boulevard or Weston Road. US-27 is a less common alternate when I-75 is backed up. Off-peak trips often take 35 minutes. The afternoon rush on I-595 westbound can add 15 to 20 minutes.
Traffic reality and when to add buffer
I-75 north of Griffin Road slows during the morning and evening commutes. The worst windows are 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Weston is a residential community, so outbound traffic is heavy in the evening and inbound is heavier in the morning. Add 20 minutes if your flight lands during those times. Rain and afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September can also slow the drive.
